Online Shopping Subscriptions

My topic for the research project is Online shopping subscriptions. I am going to discuss how they work, why they are so relevant in our society today, different examples and fields that subscriptions exist in, and the what the future may hold within this area. The biggest example is Amazon Prime which is a huge online shopping subscription that many people use very often. Also there are their competitors such as Jet.com and others as well. I will show the amount of people who have certain subscriptions and if there is growth within this area and what changes are also being made to add on to these subscriptions. I believe this is a very interesting topic and it is relevant in our current time period and can become more important as time goes on.

    Hi Roni! I like your topic of exploring online shopping subscriptions. Many people today prefer to do a lot of their shopping online which is giving rise to e-commerce. Personally, I don't support online shopping subscriptions because I feel like they are too much of a commitment but it could totally be helpful for those people are need the same items every month or so! It can also prove to be convenient for them because they don't have to go out and purchase those items all the time. Would love to get a sense of whether or not the price point is worth it for these subscriptions.

Privacy

With new media there are a lot of issues when it comes to privacy and confidentiality. In social media people are putting up information about themselves that they don't believe is that big of a deal. This information is viewed by many which takes away your privacy and also the media platforms such as Facebook and google can sell your information to other parties. This isn't private at all as anything you search online or post will always stay there and will be seen as part of your name. It doesn't seem like any of peoples use of new media online, especially the popular platforms, are private.  It goes to show that privacy is hard to maintain nowadays even when you aren't doing anything wrong and are just browsing the web or using social media.

Blog v Wiki

A blog is your own website created to express your thoughts and share it with whoever wants to view it. It's a way to express yourself and it can be about anything you want. The newest post is put on the top of your page, so it can be seen first. Blogs can be very useful as according to the New York Times article,"Brooklyn Blog Helps Lead to Drug Raid" by Michael Wilson, people in the neighborhood were discussing a suspicious home in Bay ridge that was sought out to be a drug home and was taken care of due to the bloggers. Blogs can be used for collaboration by promoting your business or yourself and also sharing other people's blog posts to collaborate and build a community. A wiki on the other hand is also a website, but it is collaborative in a different way as all the members of that wiki can edit it.
