A new type of new media that I would think is beneficial is a hologram. It can help take face timing and video chatting to another level. It will make friendships and relationships more personal and more exciting. Also it can be used for video gaming and even classrooms at college which could be beneficial for an online class. It can be used at work meetings as well for long distance interaction. This is a new revolution in new media if it does occur and it most likely will be very costly to create, but it can be used in many ways to benefit people all over the globe. It will create a more real like atmosphere and interaction as opposed to staring at a screen and it can definitely revolution technology and everyone's lives.

With new media there are a lot of issues when it comes to privacy and confidentiality. In social media people are putting up information about themselves that they don't believe is that big of a deal. This information is viewed by many which takes away your privacy and also the media platforms such as Facebook and google can sell your information to other parties. This isn't private at all as anything you search online or post will always stay there and will be seen as part of your name. It doesn't seem like any of peoples use of new media online, especially the popular platforms, are private.  It goes to show that privacy is hard to maintain nowadays even when you aren't doing anything wrong and are just browsing the web or using social media. 

Baruch colleges can use some improvements and new media can help in many ways. Social media can help improve Baruch college by advertising the school and its great reputation to newcomers. Also new media can help create a platform to have students find recommendations for teachers and give advice on which major or career can best suit an individual. Also getting textbooks online can be improved with new media, especially buying used ones from previous students. New media can also help improve signing up for classes by having a more efficient way of doing that.
